The program was started in the year 2017 and it has brought about 1000+new permanent residents to the region Atlantic Canada.  The program covers four provinces-New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Prince Edward Island.

Noticing the success of the program, this pilot program was made permanent on December 17, 2021 and afterwards it was renamed as Atlantic Immigration Program earlier it was named Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program. The new program is officially opened on January 1, 2022.

The Atlantic Immigration Program is a program that allows the employers in the region of these four provinces to hire immigrants from abroad.  The foreign workers can apply for permanent residency through this program.
